Is Conditioner Really Necessary

Why Is Conditioner Important?

For silky, manageable hair nothing beats a luxurious hair conditioner. But is it really necessary? It is a common myth that conditioner weighs hair down and can even make it oily or feel dirty faster. This is one of the biggest myths that are greatly doing a disservice to you and your hair.

It’s really common for us to hear from clients worried their hair is too fine to use conditioner, or that clients use handfuls of conditioner because their hair is dry.

Fine Hair

If you have fine hair we cannot stress enough how important it is for you to use conditioner. Selecting the correct shampoo will make the difference in how your hair responds to conditioner. You will want to use a light shampoo that will gently cleanse the hair and rebalance the scalp, make sure your shampoo does not have alcohol in it as this will dry the scalp, which will lead to more oil production as some fine hair or volume shampoos do. Use one pump of conditioner starting at the ends of the hair, working your way up to the mid-lengths, massaging any remaining conditioner into the roots. Hydrating your roots will help to create a healthy scalp allowing your hair to grow in a more nurtured environment. Shampoos clear away excess oil and dirt from our hair and scalp, but it’s conditioners that restore moisture and help balance the pH levels in your hair, preserving the colour and preventing colour fade. After application, your cuticles will feel smooth, preventing tangles and allowing tangles to release easily. Good conditioners can make a huge difference in the health of your hair by strengthening, protecting and nourishing each strand.

Dry Hair

It is easy to think more product is going to give us a better result. I think we have all fallen for this before where we have literally put a handful of conditioner onto our hair thinking it will make it silky and get those dreaded knots out easier. This could not be further from what happens. Applying too much conditioner is not only a waste of product and your money, but you will not be able to rinse all the conditioner out. The results are pollutants, dirt and natural oils will stick to the conditioner residue making your hair feel dirty in a day or two.

Award-Winning Conditioner

Finding most clients were also not washing their hair correctly at home, either using too much product or not rinsing products out, which was making their hair feel dirty faster, resulting in feeling like they needed to wash their hair more regularly. By doing this clients were stripping their hair of natural oils, which encourages the oil glands to produce more oil. Victoria’s philosophy has always been to wash the hair less frequently, and correctly, which allows the hair to rebalance and for the hair to grow with fewer split ends. Victoria started developing Treatment Conditioner in 2007 after realising her clients didn’t have the time to use 20-minute plus treatments – these products were bought and left in the bathroom cupboard. Treatment Conditioner is an instant treatment that works to restore the cuticle from sun damage, over styling and colouring the hair.

Our Process is simple

Start with our Balancing Shampoo to remove impurities from the hair, always washing the hair a second time with either our Balancing or Hydrating Shampoo, depending on the hair type. Then follow with our Treatment Conditioner, which must be combed through the hair and rinsed well. The Treatment Conditioner is now the multi-tasking, superhero in the V&M spa range.

This divine conditioner is formulated with Australian Kakadu Plum and Lilly Pilly, both essential nutrients that keep your hair and scalp healthy, manageable, and shiny. A lightweight formula that works to restore and maintain the integrity of each strand helping to prevent split ends and colour fade.
